DPWH Confirms 4% Completion of Samal Island-Davao City Bridge, Aims for September 2028

In attendance for the groundbreaking of the P23 billion 3.8-km Davao-Samal bridge are President Ferdinand Marcos Jr and other government officials. A model of the bridge is displayed at the venue. The groundbreaking ceremony marks the start of construction for the bridge, which is expected to be completed in 2027. The bridge will connect Davao City to Samal Island and is expected to boost tourism and economic growth in the area.

The soil exploration drilling on Samal Island Davao started on October 17, 2022 and is in preparation for the Davao Samal bridge project. The drilling is being done to determine the soil composition and stability of the area in order to plan the construction of the bridge.

PHL, China sign $350-M loan deal for Samal-Davao bridge

THE PHILIPPINE government has signed a $350-million loan deal with China for the construction of a bridge linking Samal Island to mainland Mindanao in the countrys south.  

Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Huang Xilian made the announcement on Monday through a post on his official Facebook page, saying This project will break ground before long.”

Gov’t unveils design for P23-billion Samal Island-Davao City connector project

Government has unveiled the design of the P23.039-billion Samal Island-Davao City Connector Project.

The 3.98-kilometer project is expected to cut travel time between Samal and Davao City to 5 minutes, the Department of Public Works and Highways said in a Facebook post on Wednesday.

The toll-free, 4-lane bridge will benefit some 25,000 vehicles traversing these areas on a daily basis, added the agency.

Budji + Royalís design of Davao-Samal bridge featured in Taipei forum

Filipino design team Budji + Royal Architecture + Design will present their take on “Adaptive Cities” in Taipei this week. The city is this year’s World Design Capital, designated by the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design every two years to recognize a city’s innovative use of design.
